Trainer info required

Postby Jinnyj » Sun Jul 19, 2009 7:21 am

Hi
I'm new here although I do post on a few racing forums back in the UK.

I am trying to find some information on a Californian trainer called Gerardo Contreras as I think I may have known him when I worked at Santa Anita/Hollywood Park some years ago.

Does anyone know much like age/background (who he worked for) and possible way of contacting him if hes who I think he is!

Anything much appreciated - pm me if you prefer. :D

Trying hard to get funds together to come out to BC - last visit was for '93 BC so its long overdue!

Must not be awfully high profile. Our media guide, which lists about 260 Southern California trainers doesn't include his name.
I hate it when I don't forward chain letter and I die the next day!

There is a person listed in my CTBA directory named "Gerry Contrares". That is how they've got it spelled. I can PM his phone number to you if you'd like. There's no other info, just a phone number.

Edit: Goggling that spelling shows him as having horses at San Luis Rey.

Bingo!

Thanks alot guys! Its only taken me nearly 20 years to find him! (don't worry I'm not a stalker just a good friend from years back!) Might have helped if I'd got the spelling right in the first place.

Jinny, I have a question for you - I'm in Canada and play the UK racing with ladbrokes on line - what's the significance of the number ( could be 100 or 57..) that's listed after the horses name on the racecard - I guess it's something like a beyer number - can you tell me.
Also any idea why the Lucky 15, 31 and 63 only pay double the odds for a single winner ONLINE, when if you visit a bookie on the street you can get up to 5 times the odds for single winner.
Thanks a lot.

Number after the horses name may be the number of days since it last raced. Need to dig out an old race card to check.

Can't help you on the betting side - I only go in for straight win or win/place bets usually - my Lucky 15s always lose straight off! Try one of the UK racing forums - either www.theracingforum.co.uk or www.talkinghorses.co.uk - both have lots of guys on there who are seriously into betting. You'll get some good tips on there from time to time as well.
