The numbers we the public get are rediculous
The only place I can find this site is on countdown to the crown with Jeremy Plonk
The odds on the current Wynn's Furure Book for the Derby are so far off on so many horses
you basically now just have to ignore them. Yes the numbers change hourly if not daily
but today is Jan 26. The last list from Wynn that I can find is dated Jan 11
For instance there is an "o"fer two time losing 3 yr old listed at 250 /1 on the site
but at Wynn yesterday he was like 50 / 1 (Unprecedented)...the horse, not the situation.
This is an important subject to some...
So is there not a Future Book out there that can give us at least a daily update?
How tough could that be???
If you want daily updates, I suggest using one of the offshores at which you can actually place a bet online. Those will be giving you current odds that you lock in when you make the wager. The Vegas books can't take action on Derby futures (or any futures) online or by phone. Wynn offers phone accounts but only on pari-mutuel wagering, per state regulations. I suppose the Vegas books don't feel the need to update their odds online more frequently than once a week since those can change many times over the course of the day.
The only thing dumber than the future odds the Wynn offers is Churchill offering a limit of 24 horses and not individual odds for all 1,700 TC nominations.
I checked with Churchill and they said the reason they offer only 24 horses is because they are waiting to upgrade their software to Windows 98.
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

He updates the link to the Wynn odds weekly and in fact did so on Monday.
As far as the odds being "off," Unprecedented was a horse that Rick Dutrow spoke very highly about prior to his debut, so a few wiseguys might have gotten in some action. He also ran his 2nd race on 1/22 and you said in your original post that the odds you were looking at were dated 1/11. I think John Avello does a terrific job managing the gigantic amount of "prospects" and there's certainly value to be had (Maximus Ruler at 100-1 as of 1/25).
Also, do you really need a daily update? How many Derby contenders run on Monday-Thursday? The odds being updated once a week are fine in my opinion.
I would say that the Vegas Derby futue book has been pretty much a scam for the past 20 years or so.
In 1989 I had Sunday Silence at 50-1, and that's the last ticket I've ever cashed on anything.
I've heard a few stories, like the Winning Colors and FuPeg scores that were off the charts, but Vegas has gotten so protective they've really taken the fun out of it for any kind of "serious" wagering opportunities.
About the only thing that's left is to make a $5 wager just for bragging rights that you picked the Derby winner in January, but the thought of making any serious money has gone out the window.
As for the newer three weekend Churchill Downs future pools they do on-line, they're pretty small so it's tough to get a fair price, that said, it seems that I know just as many people who had FunnyCide at 92-1 through that platform as I do all the success stories from Vegas over the years.
One area I know nothing about is the offshore books, perhaps they offer some prices you think are fair?
And remember...Things work out best when you make the best of the way things work out.
