Very disappointing, especially since it was my call wheter to run or scratch. Of course, a scratch would have probably put him in Sunshine Millions Classic (since alw race in book for 1/29 not likely to fill) and chances are the result there would have been no better if the likes of Usual QT, Acclamation, Bad Action, Bold Chiftan and Compari choose that spot. Apparently Mr. Rod really wanted the lead so Pedroza tried to take back. This wasn't OTM's game plan, Pedroza had to fight him and took some run out of him. Of course, going with Rod to 1:10 and change for 6f was not the way to go on this track either.
For now, looks like on the lead is the only place to put him, so will try 1 1/8 races (or longer) where the pace is softest. He supposedly has a high cruising speed and the stamina get 1 1/4. Of course, races don't always come up the way you want them, so will enter 1 1/16 if they come along, but will probably pass at a flat mile. (Might go 7 1/2 at Hwd though, since that track seems to move him up).
Immediate post race exam he seemed to be fine, but you can't be sure until they get back to galloping in a couple of days.
