Great day at Santa Anita today. I got to the track a little after the first race, 11:30 AM first post is hard on everyone. I went to Frontrunner to spend most of the day with DX, and the Girlie was at the table next to us, it was a very enjoyable time, great company.
Before the 3rd race, DX and I went to the Paddock Room to find Lester, but he was outside smoking a cigarette and was easy to identify. Lester seems like a nice enough fellow, I think he got a bad reputation in here and should be welcomed back. He offered to split a $12 pick four three ways, with DX picking the horses. He is quite a unique individual, and he truly means what he posts. He seemed happy that Snake was banned. I am glad to hear that the lawsuit against DMTC never happened. I wonder if he even handicaps because he said he played Hardoon's horse in the 3rd and asked DX to make the picks in the pick four that never happened. It was interesting. Apparently dirt will be back by the end of February, which was the big news of the day.
At Frontrunner, I plunged to have the buffalo burger that Goose raves about..it took a while to be ready, but it is a good burger..but $14 is a ridiculous price and the double double is a better burger and 1/4 the price..I give the Buffalo Burger a 7 out of 10..and the chicken handling is appopriate, I believe it would have the Lester seal of approval..
Met Syncopate for the first time, happy 29th birthday to him ..and saw LuckyDuck..I guess JG was there though I did not see him, so I guess he does have a pulse..
Gambling wise, I hit nothing and DX was throwing out my picks until the late pick four, that I tagged and DX tagged as well, and hitting the last two winners..DX cashed a life changing $30 pick three as well, congrats to him..
The Zenyatta ceremony was very well done, better than Hollywood Park MOO..having her parade and having the pictures in the winners circle..and the John Henry statue looks outstanding, though I am not familiar with him, there seemed to be quite a fanfare with that..
Near the end of the day, someone tried to steal DX's calendar..he said he was gonna go on the woman who attempted
Posters look good and will be on eBay very soon, so bid..I have to pay the DX the $2 I owe him somehow..
Good day today and I look forward to seeing Lava Man run tomorrow
Take my advise and do what you please
Boy, don't I wish I was 29 again- I've seen 29 years of Santa Anita's 75 but I have to add on a few decades to my real biological total.
And next time have the Turkey sandwich- still the same 14 bucks, but it's a sandwich you'll never forget. That would be an idea if we got In `N Out to set up a stand, maybe then Vince would move his tack to the S. Cal circuit.
If wishes were horses then beggars would ride-
& If dirt were dollars we'd all be in the black
I must like Alpo because I think the food is pretty decent. Vessel's club at Los Al has the best food I have ever had at the track.
A lot of fun today at SA and enjoyed seeing TT, Yvette, Syncopate and Lucky Duck. There are 82 more days so let the good times roll.
Mr. Super Bowl
If it is bet, they will take it.
Theyve had the same lousy menu for years...some awful ceviche they always try and push on you, some nasty turkey club something or other that i had once and it was so bad i couldnt eat it, garbage salads, etc...ive had better food in the joint. The crab cakes are ok but theyre like $30. I usually just stick to those bread sticks and soup, tough for even the frontrunners "chefs" to botch.
Speakimg of food, was at dmr otb today. It took almost 3 hours to get our lunch in the saddle club. Pretty amazing. Waitress kept telling my buddy that his turkey club was "Still cooking" and coming out soon.Ordered the food after the 2nd race and it came right before the 8th.
Please, Be-Leaf, Me, On, This.
Now I wouldn't do it after every G1 but given her story and in the moment I think it worked perfectly!
Tho parading her is goofy - why not let her gallop a lap first especially since they worked her a few weeks back. Then let her cool off and prance.
Gentlemen, there's no fighting here. This is the WAR ROOM!

Glad to see you guys had a good time.
I got there before the first and couldnt find anywhere to hang but on the rail mid stretch. I was also with my fiance's family so the pressure was on to pick some winner's. Success struck when we hit The Town Lady pretty good, but was followed by several blanks. I told her father that if M1 is gets an easy lead/slows it down and is still up front once they pass us, they arent going to catch him. After watching him open at 11-1, I knew the price would be well worth it. I put $200 on his nose and her father was supposed to put $50. The race went exactly as planned and once they crossed the finished line he told me that he had chickened out and put $5 on him because he lost faith in my capping when Pinkarella burned our money up.
All in all a great day.
I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany...
Is anybody (else) old enough to remember the old cafeteria? The one with sort of U-shaped long counters, and you had to pick somebody who looked almost done and stand behind them to get a seat? I loved their cold turkey sandwich but can't say how it compared with Frontrunners.
Ummm, Mr. P4, the food always taste better when your signers........WTF
