Sour grapes? yeah right. How is Chip disrespecting Zenyatta? I dont necessarily agree with is all she did was statement, but he is giving his opinion and its a very valid and fair critique. Same with the critique about Rachel not running in the BC. Fair and valid.
I would be a vegetarian if BACON grew on trees
Who's Chip Woolley anyway?
[quote="LuckyDuck"]Who's Chip Woolley anyway?
Yeah really ... Seems his horse will be running in allowance races soon and I think he's just running his mouth to try to keep in the headlines.
Once Mine That Bird is running in allowance races ... Who is gonna care what Chip Woolley says?
Seems he needs to talk while someone is still listening ... Because they won't be soon.
Actually, no, he'll always have an audience because he trained a Kentucky Derby winner. You know, the biggest race in this country and one of the biggest in the world.
It's convenient for you to attempt to discredit his opinion because he doesn't agree with you. Of course, a lot of people agree with him.
That's the race they run the day after the Oaks, right? The one where Rachel destroyed the field by a record margin?

Who did she beat in the Kentucky Oaks? ... Gabbie's Hen or was it Gabbie's Golden Gal?
Yeah the Kentucky Oaks had a stellar field.
What did the horses she faced do since then?
This next part is 100% sincere ... I thought I heard that the field she beat in that race put together a combined 1 more win for the rest of the year. Do you know if that's correct? Just looking for confirmation if you know.
I could be wrong ... But I could swear I'd heard that.
Bottom line being ... Kentucky Oaks or not ... That field was extremely suspect.
Rachel did what she should have against a field like that ... I credit her for doing that ... But it should have been expected shouldn't it?
And don't get me wrong ... I credit Rachel for being a GREAT 3 year old ... But the fact of the matter is we're comparing a p p l e s to oranges here.
Zenyatta is 5 years old ... She's bigger and stronger and more refined ...
At 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 miles ... Zenyatta is just getting warmed up and at least a couple of races I know(including the Classic) was moving at 40 miles and hour the last furlong.
At 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 miles ... Rachel is running out of gas and hanging on ...
Rachel at a mile or less ... Maybe ... But at 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 ... I just don't see it happening ...
At that distance ... One is getting stronger and the other is hanging on.
In all honesty ... Had the connections gone all out on the races with Zenyatta ... Don't you think the winning margins would have been MUCH bigger in the vast majority of her races???
They weren't looking for record setting margins ... They were just looking at doing what it took to win. One or two lengths was what they wanted.
Had they wanted more ... Don't you think they could have easily gotten it?
Rachel is a GREAT 3 year old ... But she's not developed and matured enough to handle Zenyatta yet ... It's a p p l e s and oranges.
Oh ... And for the record ... EVERY single one of the horses that Zenyatta trounced in the A p p l e Blossom came back and won their very next race ... EVERY single one ... That seems pretty impressive to me ...
And she's supposed to be a synthetic specialist ...
I only wonder how much better she would have been had she run her entire career on dirt.

Cool NTamm ... Please prove him wrong and I'd very happily recant what I said about that. (Smile)
Really ... I didn't check what he said ... But if you find he's wrong ... I'd love to know.
Also NTamm ... What did you think about the strength of that Kentucky Oaks field ... You DO agree it was an incredibly weak field do you not?
