I just watched the DVD and thought it was well done. TVG had a very limited time frame to put it together and then make the copies. It has all the races and some interviews with the connections. Really interesting to see her career unfold.
Just a side note. If you remember Forrest Gump his mother in the movie played by Sally Field told him that everyone is put here for a eventual destiny. After now seeing the BC Classic 5 million times I must say that Trevor Denman's destiny was to call that Classic. I seriously think that might be my favorite race call of all time.

If it is bet, they will take it.
Limited timeframe? To edit together some clips from their archives? And make copies? Editing could be done in about 4 hours by a staff of three. 9,418 copies could be done in anywhere from 12-36 hours depending on which duplicating house they used (e.g. numer of duplicators). You are unaware of the infrastructure required for such.
Gotta love the fact that it brought few, if any 'new fans' to the track - attendance was increased 70% from Saturday, while on-track handle was only up 20%. Total handle was actually down from Saturday but due primarily to out of state attendance down for a Sunday. Get you DVD and your poster and go home plz.
Gentlemen, there's no fighting here. This is the WAR ROOM!

DRF website (as opposed to eBay) where they sell other DVDs seems like a logical place for the closet fans across the country to get their copy and enjoy, no?
With the proceeds going to a horsie charity Moss chooses, (not Steven Crist)
And remember...Things work out best when you make the best of the way things work out.
Hmmmm . . . was there supposed to be the Zenyatta DVD at this link? If so . . . . NOT.

Steven Crist deleted the link. I heard Crist is producing his own dvd, "Rachel Alexandra - The Real Champion on Real Dirt for the Real Horse Players"
Yeah, how dare Crist disagree with you about Horse of the Year. He's a bad, bad man who has probably never made a dime in racing nor ever had an intelligent viewpoint.
It's not about me, friend... It's about Crists constant diminishing of our sport where it regards synthetic racing and horses who race over it. I don't like the synthetics much. I've stated that many times.. but I'm a California player. This is my home. Just like Shirreffs is a California resident and trainer so he trains over it. I've never said a bad word about Rachel .. nor have ANY of Zenyattas connections. Not a single negative word from any of them. In fact, Jerry Moss has been quite complimentary when mentioning or asked about Rachel..
But the Jackson camp, including the devotees, Beyer and Crist, have written numerous articles about the fake plastic surfaces and the undeserving horses who race over them. If Jackson had his druthers.. Nobody at all would have shown up at Santa Anita for the Breeders Cup.. And Zenyatta would have faced a field with not a single person in the stands.. Jackson would have been thrilled, I'm sure. And that's not good for the game, regardless of your preferences...
So when constantly asked by the media why he wasn't running his filly in the BC Jackson says it's because he doesn't like synthetics. Beyer and Crist also don't like synthetics, so together they're all bad for racing? Maybe synthetics are bad for racing. It's also not quite accurate to lump Beyer and Crist into the Jackson camp. Is that because they don't think Zenyatta should be the Horse of the Year?
Jackson doesn't like synthetics. It's not really a big deal. That's why he chose not to run his filly in the BC. He also owns the best 2YO filly in training and he decided not to run her either. His distaste for the surface should not keep his filly from winning Horse of the Year nor should that lone victory be all that earns Zenyatta the honor. However, to say that Jackson being outspokenly against synthetics is bad for racing is incorrect. California racing fans have to deal with synthetics. The rest of the country does not.
Articles upon articles upon articles written by Beyer, Crist, or anyone else who doesn't think Zenyatta should be Horse of the Year together would pale in comparison to the attempt by Sherwood Chillingsworth and the Oak Tree Racing Association basically ditching Lady's Secret in an attempt to "endorse" Zenyatta for Horse of the Year.
This is horse racing. I'll put aside Beyer and Crist for the moment.. On Jackson.. Nobody begrudges an owner or horseman for doing what he thinks is right for his horse. Jerry Moss said as much when reporters were trying to get him to comment on Rachel's non-appearance at the BC. All Moss would say is; I believe in the Breeders Cup." And all of us, even you, NTamm, know that if the BC was in New York this year on dirt, Zenyatta would have been there - READY TO RUMBLE. To your knowledge, has anybody close to Rachel ever suggested that Rachel can't handle or excel over a synthetic racetrack? I'll answer that. The answer is; No. Next question: Did Jackson object to synthetics last year PRIOR to Curlin's losing race in the BC Classic. Answer; No.
Here is what Jackson said while campaigning for HOTY in his Blood Horse interview after Curlin lost the Classic; "I especially want to extend my deep gratitude to Curlin’s fans. In the end, we ran Curlin as much or more for the enjoyment and inspiration of the fans and sport than for ourselves. He ran on all surfaces, in all weather, and against all competition." Please take note of the underlined part.. where Jackson asked the voters to consider that he did it for the fans, for the good of the sport - on all surfaces.
Dude changed his tune.. Huh?
I see you're hitching your wagon again to Crist, as he is the one pushing the Ladies Secret issue on the DRF website.. I often wonder if you guys actually think for yourselves.. or do you just read articles that are anti synthetic or anti Zenyatta, and go "Yeahhhh - More negatives that I can hurl at the synthetic crowd and the Zenyatta fans?
Perhaps you and Crist wouldn't have an issue with changing the name of the Lady's Secret Stakes if Santa Anita had followed a prominent trend and renamed it to corporate sponsors.. Perhaps the Victorias Secret Stakes.. Or the Frosted Flakes Stakes? I jest, you're trying to make a valid point, aren't you? So, let's address that.. The serious part of the charge is that the name change and advocacy for Zenyatta is some kind of plot to affect HOTY voting? Right?
Excuse me, while I laugh at you and Crist for an hour or two.. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... Are you guys serious? Do you think that renaming the Ladies Secret Stakes will affect one single Eclipse vote? Can you possibly believe that those hardboot sportswriters and racing secretaries care one iota about a renamed stakes race when casting their ballot? C'mon!
Talk to those 58,000 fans at Santa Anita on Breeders Cup Day .. Ask them how they feel about Ladies Secret? 50,000 of them won't even know who she is. Many were new fans there to see a great day of racing and hoping to see a great mare conquer the boys.. Some of the young people there weren't even born when Ladies Secret was running. Those young girls holding the Girl Power signs were there for Zenyatta.. not Lady's Secret.. This sport needs youth and a revival.. Zenyatta, at least for a day, brought everybody to their feet.
It's pretty simple. In business, it's called marketing. If you need new business, you try and bring in new people by appealing to the things they know and like.. To their credit, Santa Anita is trying to attract and keep the very same fans - and those like them - that showed up on Breeders Cup Day to watch the Great Zenyatta. Lady's Secret didn't bring a single fan to this years Breeders Cup. She may have brought fans in her day, but no more..
But Zenyatta brought many.. perhaps thousands.
I don't know that. You don't know that either.
My guess is she would have gone in the distaff instead of the Classic. Of course, that's a guess because I don't know.
