Given the heated Zenyatta/Rachel debate ... I thought it might be fun to have something light and forward looking out for next year being as we're losing one of the great ones ... Let's try to look at the ones we still have ...
That being said ... I'm coming forth with my list with horses I am looking forward to seeing run ... and YES ... My list with be have a distinct California flair ... Because I love watching California horses run more than any other ... But others will have their preferences too ... so here goes ...
I'm looking forward to seeing how the following horses fare next year ...
Life Is Sweet
Crown of Thorns
Lookin' At Lucky
Dancing In Silks
El Gato Malo
If they're still in training ...
I'll keep an eye on ...
Mine That Bird
I'm sure I'm leaving quite a few out ... But it's a start.
I'm not saying these are all of the best horses ... Just ones I want to watch ... Want to do well ... Or am curious about ...
The RACE I want to see will involve Rachel and ONE from my list ... But I'm not telling who that horse is ... Cause I am hoping this will be an all positive ... All forward thinking thread ...
Where we get to lament not who's retiring ... But CELEBRATE who we still get to see ... So who are your choices? Who are you looking forward to seeing still ply their trade next year?
I'm sure your Match up is RA vs Life is Sweet...Dont think it will happen though.
Soooo PeteMo ...
What horses are YOU looking forward to seeing run next year?
I'll tell you who I'm not looking forward to see run: Lava Man
I cannot, for the life of me, comprehend why they're bringing this horse back.

500,000 Sunshine Millions. If you owned him and could run against Bold Chieftain in a 5 horse field, you would take your shot too.
I'm with you on this one. I'm thinking he is probably coming back sound.. but who cares? I hate seeing those old pros struggling to relive their old glory to satisfy their owners fanciful imaginations. While they are at it, maybe they can get Willie Mays to play centerfield again for the Giants.
Agreed, they'll never meet up. And if they did meet on dirt there'd be a tremendous amount of distance between the two of them at the finish.
I agree ... and if it were at 1 1/4 miles ... You and I may differ on the winner. But ... I've still gotta see how Life Is Sweet fares early next year before I have an official prognostication. But I would love to see the matchup if she dominates out West once out of Zenyatta's shadow.
But let's try not to make this a thread on this.
Let's try to just keep it on positives ... Ergo ... Who we're looking forward to seeing run next year ...
The positives ... Lets not lament who won't be running ... But revel in who will ...
I'll say I'm excited to see Quality Road, Capt. Candyman Can, Drosselmeyer, Custom For Carlos, Jackson Bend, Presious Passion, and many more.
As far as the other part of your post, there's not a distance in racing that would enable Life Is Sweet to even get near Rachel on a dirt track.
Your opinion NTamm ... And I think that's great!!
Believe it or not ... There's 2 from your list I'm eager to see and would pull for ... and they're EAST COAST horses???
Quality Road and Presious Passion.
Add them to my list!
Thanks for your input with YOUR horses to watch!!
