Where the line is IS NOT the deciding factor. It is added after the fact and is subjective. The position of the horses' noses is the deciding factor. When a race is extremely close, as this one certainly was, the margin can be -- in this digital age -- as narrow as a single pixel. In that case, putting the wire right on their noses would totally obscure it.
