Another great performance yesterday by the Clement trainee in the BC Classic. He came this close to notching his 5th Grade One victory of 2009.
When people are saying that Zenyatta finished ahead of the Ky Derby, Belmont and SA Handicapp winners yesterday, they also forgot to mention the Arlington Million winner too (in Gio Ponti).
Give Zenyatta HOY. She deserves it.
Just read on another forum that all previous HOY's have won going a minimum of 1-1/4 miles, so RA's connections blew it by not running in the Travers.
This is a tribute to the Great Racing Mare, ZENYATTA . . . . . . . . enjoy

on the info board at S.A. under changes, they had #7 in R9 as -should be listed as a ridgling-.
that would be gio ponti.
seems they would have noticed this sometime before starting his 16th lifetime race, no???
one theory from an on track breeder was that they removed one testicle because they can get smack around a bit when they run. by just removing one and leaving one testicle the horse can still go to stallion. guess that makes sense.
figured GP would would run much better when not bruising his balls. had him in the win slot. DOOH!
(is it testi or one testicle???)
That's wrong. When Azeri went 1 1/4 miles it was in 2004, two years after she was HOY. Both those races, the Personal Ensign Hcp., and Breeders' Cup Classic, she lost, although she finished second in the PE.
The year she was named HOY, her maximum distance was 1 1/8 miles, which she negotiated three times, winning twice, with a second.
Rachel has won at 1 1/8 miles a number of times and of course 1 3/16 miles in the Preakness Stakes.
Secretariat was HOY as a 2 year old in 1972, wasn't he? He hadn't run a mile and a quarter by the end of his 2 year old year.

LMAO..ummm nope didn't say that...Id still give it to Rachel. However, there is an obvious and reasonable argument for Z and I cant disagree with it. And for godsakes, don't ever eat any clam jobber that is over 4 hrs old. Just ask Trav
I would be a vegetarian if BACON grew on trees
