What a fantastic two days of racing, SA was beautiful as always and the crowd seemed huge after so many weekends of 10k fans, it was a real treat to see some racing fans for a change. The DMFF had a pretty large group of Mooks on hand. Vince, Traveller, Cat , GC, Dgstan,Fredo, Jana, Ac Charmer, Gomer,Syncopate, Diver52,Scorequick, Moegray and DegenerationX. i hope I didn't forget anyone, as all you people made this BC one of my best racing weekend ever.
I thought SA did a fantastic job and Trevor was also at his best. We sure got to see some great horses this weekend and Zenyatta was the icing on the cake.
WTG John Shirreffs taking down both the classics
Yes, Santa Anita did an awesome job. If they would just put the dirt track back in, I'd vote for them to have it every year. Great crowds, great service, and quackos in every shape and size. A lot of the folks there were newbies, which makes for a brighter future for the sport. The BC folks did a very good job publicizing the event. Radio and TV spots, print advertising, and even a BC ticket giveaway at the hockey game I went to last week. It's about time someone in this sport did something right.
I think everyone had a wonderful time, even my wallet (although reports are that a wheelbarrow was required to get one lucky DMFF member's money out to the car). Thanks especially to Vince for securing the choice seats and possibly the finest pepperoni this side of Naples.
Oh, and no breakdowns and no BS steward interventions.

Would have been Vince if Piscitelli held on in the Juvenile, but I'm anxious to hear about the big winners over the meeting. It wasn't me as I had a rare losing BC, albeit a grand total of $20.50, which I think I can justify as entertainment expense for 2 days.
"I'm Winston Wolf. I solve problems."
It was a great time meeting everyone. A great and safe BC as was noted here. I think SA should be in line sometime soon. Not a single break down in 2 years and 4 days and the weather is incredible.
Mr. Super Bowl
If it is bet, they will take it.
congrats on your winning day, jeff.
was good seeing everyone looking healthy, wealthy, and wise.
question: who was the quacko carrying a purple parasol
riding around on the track in a horse carriage waving to the fans?
was that kim kardashian???
not sure who kim kardashian is, but recently viewed one of those celeb sex videos she made
with some dude named Ray J. the lady with the puple paraisol looked like the
lady in the video.....
thanks for any info.
It was a great weekend hanging out with everybody sharing winners, commiserating over the losers, but win or lose it was only for a couple of minutes until on to the next race. Like Duck said, it was one of the best weekends I've had at the track in some time even if I did get a little burnt.
Which leads to one question .............
WHY DID THEY TAKE THE UMBRELLAS AWAY ???
If wishes were horses then beggars would ride-
& If dirt were dollars we'd all be in the black
sweet jesus typed out a long report and it DISAPPEARED and now late so condensed version LOL - goose if my camera had been working would have gotten a shot for you of this one amazon quacko in 12-inch wedge heels and two-sizes too small hot pants - why someone would wear hot pants to a racetrack is beyond my imagination uh nevermind lol - but you'd think all these men in charge of BC would keep in mind there's not gonna be no hot pants at Woodbine, seems hot pants alone might be a good lobby for it to be permanently installed in So-Cal TRUTH...
have never seen so many women and children turn out in droves for one horse and one horse only - the Big Z - and they were all clutching their pink souvenir TVG signs - last year they were fans, this year it was PURE LOVE, truly touching...
all of the DMFF-ers managed to catch up with looked amazing also, must be something in the water degenerate horseplayers drink eh, the men were handsome and the girls were pretty, they were big tickets - GOOD TIMES!
played some Churchill races online this morning then drove out to Century City Westfield to do what do best this afternoon - shop until drop lol - then to Trader Joes for a years supply of dog biscuits and Charlie Bear treats for my wieners, also a for the plane ride back - hope everything fits in my luggage... wanted to take the 10 back to Arcadia but nope Lakers game and concerts at Nokia - quick switch up the 405 (guy changing tire side of road = total gridlock) to do a big sweep around the valley on the 134 to the 210 - JESUS CHRIST HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MUCH TRAFFIC ON A SUNDAY EVENING- WHO SAYS THERE'S A RECESSION??? hope everyone has a good week and safe travels - best to all - D.
thanks for the great reports (and pics viewed elsewhere), almost like being there in person!
One question for the worldly travellers here that hit all the big venues like the Arc, Derby and Dubai......At OakTreeSantaAnita the pictures tell us that you were able to get incredibly close to the stars as they were getting dressed and ready to go, less than 10 feet away at some points.......can you do that at those other joints too on the big days?
And remember...Things work out best when you make the best of the way things work out.
