Thanks, FrankJM, for the update!

Vic, I'm so glad to read that you are doing better. Looking forward to hearing you at HOL and seeing you at DMR.

Meanwhile, enjoy the beach and take care!
I bet on a horse at ten-to-one. It didn't come in until half-past five.
My horse was so late getting home, he tiptoed into the stable.

Thank you all so VERY VERY much. You'll never know how much your kind words and encouragement have meant to me.

I feel much better. I'm ready to get back to what I love the most. Calling our great races and great horses. I also cannot wait to get to Del Mar and try to put Joel on some winners. I'm coming south for the entire summer rather than return to Santa Rosa for my 17th season.

See you all there!

Thanks again!

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (July 14, 2009) — Track announcer Vic Stauffer, who was hospitalized after suffering what doctors termed a “mini stroke” Saturday night, has been given the green light to return to work.

Stauffer, also the agent for leading jockey Joel Rosario, missed Sunday’s program. He will return to the announcer’s booth when racing resumes on Thursday at Hollywood Park.

“I am absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of well wishes,” Stauffer said. “Tina, Lilly and I can never properly say how much we appreciate it. I know that I am going to feel better when I’m doing what I enjoy most, and that is calling the races.”

Stauffer, 50, has been the track announcer at Hollywood Park since 2001.
There are four days remaining at Hollywood Park’s 55-day Spring/Summer Meet, which concludes Sunday.

Great to hear Vic (would have replied earlier, but I just found the new version of the forum)!! That had to be a scare to say the least!

Glad your feeling better.

Will you change your name for DM to Goofatthesurf, maybe Goofatthebeach?

Any chance you can sneak a call in for a race or two?

I have always preferred to call Vic "Big Bird". Most self-deprecating guy in all of HR. Hope things are turning the corner. No offense to Larry, but the GS meet has never been the same without you. Maybe now that Frank is broke, they'll reconsider. In any case, start taking care of your health there BB and we'll see you on TVG before you know it.

Glad you're back up and running Goof! We were all a bit worried about you. On top of that, for the first time I have a horse
running at Hollywood this week. Her name is Most Popular and it just wouldn't have been the same to have someone else
calling her race.

All the best,
