First of all let state my bad beat isn't anywhere close to the guys who got hosed in the P6 at DM. Not even close to CK's illustrious career of bad beats. I know his are the real deal. We had drinks at Southpoint at 11 am Derby morning and I believe every word he says. So maybe 2 weeks ago a friend of mine is visiting his in laws somewhere in Pa. and tells me he's going out to Pocono Downs and asks me to take a look to see if I see anything I like. Mind you I normally don't bet buggies but on occasion I'll go to the big Super Night at Ball Moral outside of Chicago. So after watching names and drivers I bet a 1.00 tri and a super ticket and invest about 30.00 in a race. I have a 46-1 shot in the 2,3,4 spots and a 8-1 and the 4/5 on top with another 5-1 and 10-1 in the mix.. Race goes off, they finish 7-1,over 46-1,0ver the 4/5 over a 5-1. I'm screaming like the usual psycho path that I am when I cash big. My goomba is live on the phone going nuts,of course he bets the same ticket too. Now were on the phone and I ask him watch the board and tell me the payoffs because I think we just took down the whole super pool. I'm on speed dial to Uni and gonna quit my job, yadda, yadda, yadda. After a few minutes I go " WTF is taking so long, our longie didn't break stride,no photo, nuttin". He goes " Fredo, whats it mean with a red dot next our number?". Apparently our bomber had cut off a horse mid stretch. Now their taking forever which means one thing DQ city. So now I'm like OK, he'll go to third and we'll make some money on the race. OH No they didn't. They take him all the WAY down and we cash nothing.I watched the head on and it "seems" like he did cut off a horse but when is the last time you seen buggies with a DQ other than breaking stride?Pretty rare imho. On the other hand I've been on the other side of a DQ and cashed handsomely just not with a 46-1 moved up.

my absolute worst bad beat, not because of the amount of money but because i have never seen anything like it. my friend and i were at trinity meadows. we put in like $15.00 each and played a pick 3. we win the 1st two leggs with nice prices, in the last leg we have 3 or 4 horses, one was 50to1. the 50to1 shot wins the race by a long neck, half a length, they flash up the photo sign and give it to the other horse, we watch the replay and absolutely no doubt our horse wins, not even close, no inquiry just put the other horses number up which was the fav who we had but that p3 pays like $150.00 with the 50to1 shot it pays like $2k. then they show the photo picture for about 8 seconds showing the other horse beating our long shot by a nose, problem is the photo picture was of some other race. my friend goes ballistic charges up the stairs to the stewards office and gets himself arrested we are in his car and i am 70 miles from home.
Tough beat Fredo.....that sucks.
This is why I feel so strongly that unless it's 1,777.77% perfectly clear that a horse whacked another horse in a race, you DON'T make a loving change.
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Why is the grandstand so far from the track?

Last time I drove by (3 yrs ago maybe) there was an active natural gas well in the home stretch. Doesn't look like that picture anymore. Lone Star Park absolutely refuses to even let it be a simulcast outlet, which is silly because that wouldn't hurt them one bit, it is "only" 40 miles to Lone Star simulcast, but that is going through Fort Worth and Arlington to get to Grand Prairie, and the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex traffic is terrible. An Indian tribe now owns LS so who knows the future.
