Looks like the Cox Plate winner So You Think will skip the Mackinnon Stakes this Saturday and be reeled back the following weekend for the Emirates Stakes. Meanwhile Viewed will run in the Mackinnon Stakes, giving him only three days before running again in the Melbourne Cup.

PP's are available for [Friday night's] Flemington card, Derby day down under. Gonna bone up tonight and I'll let you know what I think.
I was going to take a stand against Viewed in his next based on his rail skimming Caulfield win, but I thought that would be in the Melbourne Cup, not so soon.
In other news, co-favorite Efficient seems to be having trouble passing a vet check. Stay tuned.
Then there's the third co-favorite, Alcopop, a South Aus. four year old with a young trainer (3 years in the game). Hmmm
And Changingoftheguard, Euro turned Aussie, was nursing an abcess on one foot until last week, working well since.
Aren't the Australian races great?
Thanks for the update on Efficient. What's the problem with the horse? Hope everyone else is sound and ready to go, but it wouldn't be as much fun unless Efficient and Viewed were in there together. But only if Efficient is sound and can run, otherwise I hope he stays out of it.
Yes the Aussie races are great. Their horses seem to be generally a pretty hardy lot and I'm really looking forward to watching the Melbourne Cup. Regarding the Mackinnon Stakes, is it on tomorrow night, Northern Hemisphere time? I'm on Pacific Time and I don't want to miss another race. Or will it be on early Saturday morning out here? HRTV or TVG?
Looks like the Mackinnon will be listed as Australia 5A and go at 8:05PM Pacific Time; might also be worth checking out 2A, the Lexus Stakes at 5:50 PM Pacific, which is what we would call a "win and you're in" qualifier for the Melbourne Cup. The Victoria Derby is race 6A and slated for 8:55PM Pacific according to my PPs.
Best info I could find on Efficient is that he has an old fetlock injury that has been lingering for a year, limiting him to "only" two works per week.
Thanks for the information on post times. I've got them written down and will tune in later today and tonight.
I wouldn't know of course, but maybe it would be best if Efficient stayed out of racing until his fetlock problem clears up completely, or if it doesn't, maybe they will think of retiring him. No reason to take any chances and he's already won the Melbourne Cup anyway.
I'm pretty excited about the Melbourne Cup and the other Aussie races leading into it. Today I even bought some Foster's beer.
Lots of news from Flemington, RS -- Shocking took the Lexus, which may help Vigor get in. Efficient was indeed scratched from the Melbourne Cup, as was Godolphin's Kirklees. Frankie Dettori will no longer be flying in Australia to ride Monday. And the favorite Shamoline Warrior was scratched from tonights Victoria Derby.
I gotta ease off on the Foster's, RS, it gives me a nasty case of gout!
I missed the Lexus, but just saw the Mackinnon Stakes and Viewed finished third. From the way the commentators were talking, I got the impression Viewed did what he was supposed to do but I guess he didn't need the win, with the big one in only three days. Hard to understand those guys though, so my impressions may be off. Miss Maran got the place. That Scenic Shot looks like a real fire ball.
