Had this been closing week at Belmont (as it was prior to 2010), this week would have seen cancellations at Belmont on Thursday and Friday due to the heat, the fifth and sixth instances of days Belmont would have canceled on this particular week as opposed to Saratoga running (once in 2010, three times in 2011). Saratoga has only had one heat cancellation in its existence, back in 2006.
NWS forecast for tomorrow--Albany (closest to Saratoga), high of 95 with heat index of 102. NYC, high of 96 with same heat index as at Albany. It's going to be Africa-hot on Friday, but it only looks like they will have to deal that heat for just one day, as it is expected to cool considerably on Saturday.
