There should be extra penalty of a voided claim. If a trainer has a horse get claimed, then voided to to OBVIOUS non-soundness,that trainer should get a $2,500 dollar fine.Maybe then, the proliferation of painkillers, and running of unsound horses would stop.
Read something in DRF a month or so ago, that of the 19 voided claims in So Cal since May not one had run back. So despite trainers saying the "the horse is fine," so far with a small sample thats not been the case. If you end up with lets say 100 voids in 12 months and you only see 5% run back in 90 days, its going to be hard for them to abandon the rule completely.
hey that's MY line lol...
$20k claimers ARE sore, that's why they're running for $20k, that's as good as they can get out of them - if the crybabies want to return their purchase mebbe they should save their shekels and claim a more expensive model... you just can't make a Lexus out of a Hyundai no matter how many rules the CHRB writes...
One of Joe’s ‘ghost’ articles made the front page of the Sunday sports sections with photos. It centered on a movie starlet who was pictured at a crowded table in the track kitchen with her white poodle, a vet with ‘Dutrow’ fingers and a racing commissioner who owned several horses that left the course mangled. The actress had seen the Ruffian-Foolish Pleasure Match Race. Ruffian had to be eased on the backstretch. Ruffian's jockey, Jacinto Vasquez, jumped off and grabbed her reins. Her saddle was unhinged and removed. The vet applied an inflatable air cast to her right foreleg. The horse ambulance’s ramp waited.
In a modern snap and plunge breakdown, a speed racer nearing the finish line collapsed and died with his saddle on. The jockey was a projectile. Later, he retired from the saddle due to injuries sustained. Because the lab work on his three legged ‘brush with death’ came back clean, the maimed jockey never sued. That earned him an article by ‘Front Page’ Joe which praised his riding style, key career wins and stats of note. The jock was pictured with his family and, Joe, forecasted a bright future after rehabilitation.
Starlet maintained that the cause of the snap and plunge breakdown was numbing of the lower extremities by injection. In presenting the industries overview of sudden death from running around a manicured dirt oval, the vet quoted a line from ‘Vinnie’, a made mob rubout gunner from a famous scene in the movie Goodfellas.
Jimmie walks outside a Jersey diner to an aluminum phone booth to call and congratulate his friend Tommie whose being ‘made’ ceremony should have just finished. However, Vinnie answers the phone, not Tommie. Jimmie asks "What Happened to Tommie?" Vinnie replies, "He's gone and we couldn't do nothing about it." The Jewish racing commissioner chimed in with: “All breakdowns are
an act of God.”
how fast do they void the claims?
these claims never made the charts?
