Sea The Stars to Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud

A surprise but it makes a great deal of sense. HH is allowing the Tsui's to retain ownership. It brings a great deal of publicity to Gilltown and allows access to Sea The Stars for one of, if not the best group of broodmares in the world. Both sides win in this arrangement.

Already named on StS' dance card is a gal named Zarkava. While it will never happen, it would be fun to guess how much that foal would be worth at public auction.

Should have taken the 25-1 on Gilltown eh?

'The brilliant son of Cape Cross will stand his first season at a fee of €85,000 [$126,260 US] and is likely to cover a first book of approximately 120 mares.'

Re Zarkava: ' I believe the last two Arc winners were made for each other both in terms of ability, temperament and conformation. The best needs to be bred to the best.'

Edit for fun:

Well it wouldn't be hooked for $425K and reupped for $16M ala Monkey eh? Do you think the The Sheik still smirks at missing that one (progeny TBD)?

Depending (sorta) on the price of oil at the point in time, my take would be $20M+ from The Sheik for a colt.

I had the under 90, but didn't have the bomber Gilltown. It does make sense as he'll be supported by HH Aga Khan's mares and Coolmore, Juddmonte, Darley etc. will also send some of theirs. He's going to be a very popular boy and with the limited book of 120, the progeny should attract a lot of attention at the sales. This all seems to be very well done by all parties.
