Phipps Stable's Point of Entry, winner of the Manhattan Handicap (gr. IT) June 8, suffered a condylar fracture in his left hind cannon bone and will have surgery, trainer Shug McGaughey said.
McGaughey said he discovered the injury the morning of June 9 at Belmont Park. Dr. Jim Hunt took X-rays and confirmed the damage. Dr. Larry Bramlage will perform the surgical procedure June 10, McGaughey said.

Unfortunately, that might've been his last race. I still cringe at last year's BC Turf, that was a huge upset. Point of Entry has been the best horse in training for '12 and '13.
It took a while for Lukas to finally come to his senses and put Optimizer on turf. His breeding screamed turf and was grossly mismanaged for the most part of 2012.
his breeding is loaded with g1 winners on dirt on his female side, grass hasnt had anything to do with it. his sire although a top grass horse has been equally effective with both gars and dirt off spring. he was beat a head in a g2 on dirt.
