Anyone expect to be going to the BC?

Postby Alaidekman » Fri Jul 10, 2009 4:29 pm

I took a look at the ticket prices, seem a bit lower than previous years, epsecially for the lesser grandstand seats, but still no bargain. One option seems to be to wait until a week or so before the event and try to pick up some under face value on ebay. I know at Belmont they were selling for half face value or less. Did anyone go this route at SA last year? A Zenyatta/Rachel Alexandra matchup could make it a fairly hot ticket, but without this premier matchup I think there will be plenty of tickets floating around (unlike Monmouth, a much smaller venue).

Of the list price tickets, the section H "no view of finish line" seems interesting for $55 on Saturday. If the race is so tight you can't tell who is going to win 50 yards from the wire, you can always look at infield vid screen which sec H has a good view of. $55 is the same price as the high letter sections, and sure, you might be able to see the finish line from those seats but at that angle you couldn't tell who won, and not sure how good a vid screen view you have from down there. I think the most importart parts of the race to see are the start and the far turn, and sec H is in a pretty good place to see these.

Any thoughts?

Bought my tickets last year from Razorgator/Stubhub one week before the BC for 40% of face value.
This year I bought from BC website--the prices this year are pretty much half what they were last year.

"Did anyone go this route at SA last year?"

Last year I purchased a pair of $300 seats for $40 each on EBay for both Friday and Saturday for a couple of buddies in here and myself. Both sets of seats were perfect - section K or M, I think. Our other friends sat at a GREAT table right by the paddock for only $15.00, General Admission. Another friend of ours and his wife had a bench right in front of the finish line for only $15.00 GA, so you have many options.

I actually attempted to buy BC tickets this year the day I received that special email, but their site wouldn't work right, or maybe I wasn't working right, whatever.

Are you coming from Ireland?

Vince,

Vince is right. It was ~$40 for Saturday and another friend and I paid $25 for Friday. I will definitely be attending this year. Already made reservations at the Six Seasons.

Never mind the Paddock - you can see me in any of them, I want another "Fredo burger" and some more laughs!

I have been to quite a few BC's like most of you have .Last years BC was the best I have ever attended. And I actually had a great day at the windows. The friday BBQ at Fredo De Casa al Noche u con AG de el Muerto was fantastic. I'm looking at a 8x10 of the mookfest as we speak. It w as nice to have all those characters in one place, laughing all night long. Hopefully if the stars are aligned and weather permitting we'll try it again.

Um, huh??? "...AG del Muerto"???? My Japanese is better than my Spanish but I think that means something about death, right? Um, I'm alive & well (for those of you who were concerned...) -- and so is our casa. ;)

Yes, last year's BBQ was great. Looking forward to topping it this year.
