Wow!!! Henny must be some kind of race horse to win going away while being unsound.
Expect more of this to pop up near the end of the HP meet so the trainers/owners can have the horse at Del Mar.
this from Friday's HP overnight:
Rule is good intentioned, and probably better then the one where the horse had to be put down to be voided.. But lets use this horse as an example, they could run this horse again in a couple weeks for 8K, dont think anyone would claim him, and even if they did the horse could easily make the same impression on the vet afterwards and have a claim voided. This could be a license to print money for the connections of Plenty Of Henny.
I think they won't approve him to run for a while so they don't look foolish. That being said we still really don't know the facts.
Just using this as a hypothetical. Lets just assume the horse was just off, and the next week the horse is fine and works a 1/2 for the vet. How much power do they have to keep connections from entering right back?

This is a pet project of Bo bimbo and Rick Arthur. The CHRB board voted unanimously to approve the rule despite both the CTT and TOC being strongly against it. Politics in Cal. Racing has a huge impact on what happens.
