PS - If that Bart Cummings guy keeps sending out winners in these big money races, he may be able to retire someday.
The DRF weekend edition has a big article on the influence of weight in races today. So far as I can tell it doesn't mention Australia at all. But its amazing what 22 pons off can do for a horse.
Another tidbit: apparently Hong Kong had their first try ever at dark day simulcasting yesterday. Took in $40 million handle. But thats $HKD, I think.

He has something like 256 Gr I wins. The DRF weekend edition has a big article on the influence of weight in races today. So far as I can tell it doesn't mention Australia at all. But its amazing what 22 pons off can do for a horse.
But he won W2W which is considered near impossible for the Plate. And he's green. So maybe it's a wash.

I'm a little confused on when the race is on. I interpreted your first post as being at 11:30pm, PT, Friday evening, but my programing on HRTV had no horse racing on then.
Or is the race on tonight at 11:30pm, PT? Or did I miss it?

Was supposed to go at 11:30PT Friday night, wonder what could be more important for HRTV to show? Here's a quick recap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68D3LyrsMZI

According to my DVR progamming, the station finished their horse racing around 11:30pm. During their "Against The Odds" segment, which was originally aired on Thursday, they mentioned the Cox Plate and perhaps it was televised earlier on Friday evening. Or maybe they showed the race at 11:30pm, and I wasn't aware of it. I had turned the set off way before then. This Youtube video you posted mentions the trainer, the jockey, but not the horse by name. I finally read a short report on the bloodhorse site which mentioned So You Think. I hope Youtube will have the race in a day or so. I'd like to see the whole thing. So You Think looks like a good one. As long as I don't miss the Melbourne Cup, I won't cry.

I don't know why it wasn't televised here by one of our racing channels. I tried to find it on both, with no luck. Can't trust either of those flim-flam operations. LOL

They did actually mention the horse's name, So You Think, but it was unintelligible to us with the heavy AUS accent of the gal narrator. Same for when she mentioned the heavy favorite, Whobegotyou. If I hadn't already read a wrap-up of it I would never have known the names either.

There will never be a greater Melbourne Cup in our lifetime than this one, won by the racehorse I hold above all others (that I have been privileged to see run): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em-PsEhVlLU

I had a pretty good feeling you were referring to the great Makybe Diva. I remember the race announcer's words from first seeing the race in 2005, so I knew what to expect at the finish: "the champion becomes a legend." I got goose bumps watching her open up in the stretch. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
