Well yea!! Investing with me is the best investment... blah, blah, blah.
ProRo, I have a friend - let's call him Johnny because he doesn't want his real name known.
He's pretty sharp at playing the horses - only wagers when he finds overlays and also plays in many horse tournaments. After having a few good years (he's still very young) of hitting some nice P4s, and winning a few big tournaments, and showing a ridiculously successful profit, he said he wanted to open a tout business because a lot of people saw his name winning tournaments, etc, and he was becoming well known around the racing business as a very successful player.
Then we thought about it for a couple of weeks.
I said to him,
"Johnny, I know you're successful, you know you're successful and many people in the business know you're a profitable player. But why in God's Holy Name don't you just play the horses yourself - perhaps double, even triple your wagers, play in more tournaments and avoid the ordeal of dealing with gambling degenerates, having to start a questionable business with tax implications, headaches, credit cards, possible bounced checks, PayPal problems and all the wasted time that you need to run a tout business? Why not just handicap the horses, games, etc, and make a good living for yourself without the hassles? You can even bet offshore and not suffer tax consequences that you would have while trying to stir up business and reporting income from a tout business."
After discussing my thoughts with his accountant, his accountant concurred 117% and told him it would be FAR better to just play on his own since he really was successful.
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
