Sprint was brutal in 1989

But I think this is the day that Easy Goer will finally catch Sunday Silence. :D

Always though '89 was Durkin's best call. The speed of Slew City Slew, the heart of Blushing John, the power of Easy Goer, and greatness of Sunday Silence. He captured it all in one race.

I've really enjoyed watching these past Breeders' Cups and the '89 edition was a real 'Who's Who' of racehorses. I had never seen Go For Wand run, and I could see her huge heart in action as she won the BC Juvenille Fillies.

Jack Van Berg has been in the booth with Dick Enberg, and with his accent he was calling Personal Ensign "Personal Enzyme". Shoemaker was just interviewed as well. I'm looking forward to seeing one of my equine heroes, Easy Goer, go at it with Sunday Silence, although I've seen this race on Youtube and I know I'll be crushed again because Easy Goer didn't win. But he sure got Sunday Silence's number in the Belmont Stakes back in June that year.

This has been really a great way for me to catch up on a lot of these horses, since I wasn't a fan back then. They've been showing the BCs every week on most Mondays and Tuesdays and even early in the morning.

It has been great R.S! Go for Wand was brilliant in her run. So sad to know her outcome. Waiting to watch S.S and E.G next!! I feel like I am back in time for sure. I was not watching the races at that time either so lots of fun to watch!

Also really weird to hear P.V was suspended that day. Damn as good as he was and still has problems. Sad

Ha Ha yes he does!! I don't know why but I remember when I was oh 10 or so I use to ride at this sable and ride this same horse called Little Bay. I use to pull the saddle off and ride bare back all the time. Then one day they gave me this small red colored horse and said ride this one today. I said OK, pulled the saddle off and rode bare back as always. Boy I could not believe the speed in this one called Red!!! I rode fast and was so happy with the horse. Come to find out it was a ex thoroughbred. You could feel the different for sure. Not sure why I am thinking of this or telling you guys but it was a Wow moment. :)

P.S maybe because it was hard to hold on!
