Another vote for My Name is Michael. I hope the morning line holds true. Not a huge fan of Balance the Books, but been hearing a lot of good things about him. Will toss in Channel Isle and Fear the Kitten. Hoping Uncaptured is better on dirt.
Another vote here for Black Onyx ... jockey Joe Bravo is one of my favorites.
Black Onyx beat Crop Report by 1 3/4 lengths in their last start ... http://www.equibase.com/static/chart/pd ... 13USA7.pdf
Black Onyx goes in the Spiral ... Crop Report goes in the 8th race Rushaway Stakes. Check out Crop Report's running lines and his individual splits.
Fear the Kitten has run on 3 straight incredible speed biases that has hampered his closing style. The last 2 races produced 2 closing bombers in their subsequent races(Risen Star and Rebel),both horse who Fear the Kitten finished in front of.Michael Maker owns Turfway basically, and prob had this race on his radar all winter.Plus, you get racings IT girl,Anna Napravnik(she used to ride for me at Del.,so shell always be Anna to me). The 15-1 morning line is not right. She may end up luke warm favorite, but is a must use on every level. This is a SERIOUS DERBY HORSE:running style, breeding, human connections etc.
Glad you said something about this horse because I completely over looked him. He certainly has recency over the 2 Ml favorites and the rest of the field doesnt look like much. My only question would be isnt he a plodding type? Not sure he could handle a horse like Balance The Books closing kick. You are right though Fear The Kitten should be 2nd or 3rd choice, no way close to 15-1.
