Pleasanton today, Race 8

Postby Risen Star » Wed Jul 01, 2009 6:53 am

Hello everyone. It's great to be back.

Some of you already know about this, but for those who don't, one of my favorite horses, Sacred Light, is running today at Pleasanton, in a $25K claiming, at 1 1/16 miles. He'll break from post 2 in a field of 6, with William Antongrigi III aboard.

Post time is 4:15pm, and I'm pretty sure HRTV will air it, since they have the Pleasanton coverage.

Many of you remember Sacred Light, a six year old roan/gray gelding. He ran in the Santa Anita Derby in 2006, broke from the gate, stumbled, and fell right on his nose. I've loved this horse ever since, especially after he went down to the claiming ranks. He's a good fellow.

Good call CK. TANGO MANGO just won the 4th at P-Town. Certainly wasn't a bomb at 6/5 (9/5 ML), but is a Bonde horse nonetheless.

SAFE TRIP SACRED LIGHT!!!! ;) (See avatar --->)

Sacred Light finished third after closing well. He seemed to be going kind of easy, not in any hurry.

wasn't Sacred Light second to Brother Derek at very long odds in the SA Derby?

He ran second to BRO DEREK in the Santa Catalina Stakes.

In the SA Derby he ran fourth in a field of five. Don't recall his M/L or post-time odds though. As Risen Star mentioned above, he stumbled pretty hard out of the gate. Also appeared to have a bug or something in his ear (yes, really) in the saddling ring & paddock. Really seemed to bother him.

Anyone who knows me is aware that I'm crazy for SACRED LIGHT. He was my Derby horse that year & I've been following him since Feb 2006. I was crushed when he stumbled out of the gate in the SA Derby.

Glad to see the guy still running & the occasional check though.
