Los AlamitosLos Alamitos is my favorite track to play but I can write 1000 words on how to fix it and make it better for the players and more profitable for its owner but that post will be some other time. What I did want to post to get other horseplayers opinions is concerning a lame tactic they are using Saturday night. They are splitting 25 horses into trials of 6, 7, 6, 6 for an upcoming stakes race. Other quarter horse tracks use trials of 10 and Los Al's past practice is usually 8. I understand they can't fill races but as a horseplayer, don't you deserve better then a track purposely giving you 6 horse fields? My question to you forum members is would you rather have more races with less horses or have Los Al shave a race off the card and give you 8-9 horse trials?
Re: Los AlamitosRun only 7-8 months a year. They have to be hpoing they can expand the thoroughbred product down there.
Re: Los AlamitosPersonally, Vince would rather see less races and more horses in them.
But please keep in mind those 6-7 horse trial thingys are approximately 50% more than the average field sizes at the other southern CA tracks so count your blessings. More importantly, never mind the short fields, when are the Der Wienerschnitzel races? Vince P Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Re: Los AlamitosI think they should run 12 match races and only offer win wagering.
Re: Los AlamitosTheir starter would like that since he can't get 5-6 horse's out of the gate without getting 3 left.
Re: Los Alamitos4 more trials for Sunday with an exciting 6 horses per race, may have to focus on Cal Expo Harness (also known as best kept secret on the west coast)
Re: Los Alamitos
You're right, probably is more money to be made with Cal Expo Harness.
Re: Los AlamitosIt wouldn't surprise me if the handle at Cal Expo is higher than it is at Los Al currently, or if not, soon.
