Comment by Lester or an editorial: Sheep for the Lions

Comment by Lester or an editorial for players who go broke fast

The tracks welcome them with open arms, I call this sheep for the lions.

Well it's time to say something about our betting system, It stinks

I tell you why, the tracks have the psychology of the player down to this last thoughts. To many darn bets.

We have WPS, ex's , tri's Qu's, DD's, the pick 3 , pick 4, pick 5, pick 6, pick 8 and the great pick 9 or whatever.

If anyone seen a bettor going nuts, which I have, he or she bets everything, 50 cents here, 1 there, 2 for the pick 6, and before you know it, it's GONE, yes it true, Gamblers anonymous is loaded with players going nut to win the big one that never comes. I blame the tracks for providing to many bets that can set a player off, I know most of us on the forum can control our playing, but believe me, they're people out there who go to the track with several hundred dollars and they're broke by the fourth or fifth race.

When I pick up the calendars in the Paddock Room, nobody wants to sell them, by the fourth race, the people are lined up to sell them at 2 bucks apiece.

If the track would limit and eliminate curtain types of bets the public would be better off, the tracks have us done to a pat, they know a curtain percentage of people will play everything and anything.

Lets get back to the real type of bets.

WPS, DD, EX Tri's , limit the DD to the first and second race. Pick 5 and the Pick 6

I would like to see the end of the Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 8 or the Pick 9 and the Qu's ( this would increase the other pools.) The Supers and the Super High Five.

This would give a real good chance to a player who plays everything to concentrate on one or two types of bets.

Any comments

Just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber you go out and write something like this...and TOTALLY redeem yourself! Great editorial.

The problem with eliminating many of the exotic types of bets is that in today's world, whether racing or other sports, most gamblers are looking toward the big score. And with lotto, slots, etc, unfortunately WPS isn't as popular as it once was.

On the other hand, I do agree a tiny bit with Lester implying that many of these crapshoot wagers can actually be sabotaging overall handle in a strange way, as there are less winners and less churning.

Not sure I agree with myself.

As usual, sharp editorial Lester.

Believe, me, on this, there are days in which I play every form of exotic bet early on in the card, and before you know it, the GODDAMN horsemen have stolen 3/4's of my voucher..

Remember as I have always said, if it is bet, they will take it.

Fine editorial, Lester.

The biggest problem with horse racing, even moreso than the betting menu, the thieving horsemen and the worthless vouchers, are the undomesticated horses.

Horses need to be domesticated NOW..
