he certainly didnt run well in that race but he was completely taken out of his game plan when put on the lead. i would much rather have hes had enough at 100to1 than flashback at 20to1

Claimboxx has FB at 150-1 for $100

I predict that HHA will not face the Derby starter as he will fall well short of points needed to start on the first Saturday in May.
He has a paltry 6 points in March. Give me a break!!!!

Mike you are correct, but I am certain he will be waiting for them in Maryland!

the winner of the 2013 derby may not have 1 point right now. everything thats happened so far means little its what happens from now on that really matters. the derby winner may not have broke his maiden yet or has only broke his maiden

May not is the operative word. I say the eventual Derby winner has already won or run in a pertinent race this year . A
maiden or just broke maiden is way behind the eight ball and probably is looking at the Preakness at the earliest.

That is very possible. I can count on one hand IMO the number of legit contenders right now. Doesnt appear to be a very strong 3 year old group so far, odviously that can and very likely will change. Looking at the derby Pool Future closing odds from this past weekend I can count on one hand the amount of serious contenders. Those being Orb,Flashback, Itsmyluckyday and maybe Revolutionary.

1 horse that I am interested in greatly is Balance the Books, so far a turf horse only he will be winning the Bluegrass at Keenland to become qualified. May run in the Spiral at Turfway on March 22nd as well. If he has improved from 2 to 3 which theres no reason why he wouldnt he will instantly become a major player for the derby. Can get him at 65-1 right now offshore maybe better in Vegas, not sure.

you just never know which horse figures it out 3 weeks before the race and grows 4 inches. its amazing how much 3 year olds can change in the next two months. ala dipsy drew.

Something to note: By the end of February in five of the past six years, the eventual Kentucky Derby winner had yet to make his first start of the year.

Technically Mine That Bird and I'll Have Another had started before the beginning of March in their respective Derby years.

Question: If you are a maiden or just broken maiden horse, which of the two most recent ways of climbing up the Derby ladder
are easiest: Points or graded stakes earnings?
