Good point. We all have bought pieces of jewelry. The mark up is over a 1000%.

Pegram Jay Em Ess have a better bottom line than the outfits you mentioned

From what I understand both Pegram and Jay Em Ess are LRF partners. They buy shares in LRF horses.

Value is in the eye of the beholder. But if those guys, who clearly don't need LRF to buy horses, see value in a LRF marked up horse, why shouldn't we?

Petemo, you seem very smart. I'm sorry you wasted money in partnerships. I'm sure you also wasted money in non-partnerships. All things are not equal. Every horse at every track is for sale. You could buy Game on Dude right now for a price. What they paid for it, or what they have in a horse is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what you pay, on the day you buy it. You're right, always look for value. That is the key. But if Pegram and Jay Em Ess and I know many other active owners buy LRF shares, clearly they are finding horses other people want - and didn't find themselves at the time the purchase was made.

You are off your rocker if you think Pegram and Siegel pay markups to buy into a partnership.. They may or may not have a horse with them, but they came at the non partnership price.

Mudflats was a horse LRF just bought at a "price" I cant put down on this board what the terms of that were, but it was unbelievable what happened to people on that horse.

I'm part of the ZHP (Zapeye Horse Partnership). Couple of years now and we still don't have a horse; I'm growing weary of the "I was the underbidder to this and that horse" all the time.

Did you put up money? He's been the underbidder on just about every good horse running in the last 10 years.

LRF Investor here. My friend told me there was some LRF chatter and i wanted to chime in. Invested in 5 (very marked up) horses. 1 made money, 4 didnt. I think ive invested in like 5 non marked up type partnerships with, funny, probably same results.

Why do I invest with LRF? Couple of years ago I called Billy Koch 4 days before the Kentucky Derby, and told him I was thinking of making a last minute trip and asked if he knew how I could get tix. Two hours later he got me four 3rd floor clubhouse seats on the finish line at face value. Best seats ever. I also invested in an LRF partnership with Lebron James once and got to meet him at Saratoga. Two of my closest friends now are people I met cause we shared an LRF horse. He really has a good, solid group of partners. i got paid when they said I would and a nice write off when we lost.

Overall I am very glad I met Billy and the gang over there. Are the horses over priced? Thats like asking are the suits overpriced at Neiman Marcus. All depends on who you ask.

I don't trust people with 2 first names, a cowboy hat , or a man who 365 days a year maintains the 1980's Don Johnson stubble look. He been arrogant every time I have ever had anything to do with him. He runs a business and you pay a ton more than you should for being in a partnership. Mark ups are fine but excessive markups are a legal scam for the investors . I would also suggest meeting friends that aren't gamblers.
