The Big Cap , is it still a great race to be admired

We all know that it's a great race, we have all look at the history and what it means to win the race. However, do you think the Eastern Racing Owners really care about the race anymore, just remember the Hollywood Gold Cup was one of the best races to win, now it was a California Special and the Eastern owners didn't care one bit about the race or when they cut the Big cup from one million to 750 grand the eastern owners just wrote off the race.

Any comments.

I think the SA Derby is the premiere race now at SA with 3 year old hopefuls trying to make it to Churchill Downs for the first
Saturday in May.

When the Breeders' Cup isn't at SA, I agree and I think you would get the same response from many in the SA front offices. Makes me wonder with its decline how long before it could get dropped to a G2 or if they may consider running it later in the year if/when they get HP's dates?

Chris, TT, and others can confirm, but we know of a crazy Canuck that drives 2,000 Miles in one of his Van fleet EVERY year to attend the Big Cap and LIVE racing. So yes, Lester..I believe it is still a great race to be admired..

The Santa Anita Cap is still one of the 5 biggest races of the year NOW THAT IT IS BACK ON DIRT,and this comes from an East-coaster.The synthetics ruined the SA races just like the races at Keeneland are being ruined.
