I did a survey. I showed the above article to about 20 friends, co-workers and relatives and after they read it, I asked them if they would consider attending the races and making a few wagers.
Guess how many said, "Sure, I'd love to become a racing fan."
Pete, et al, you do the same and let me know how many potential new racing fans you convert.
For the record, personally I have no problem with what Peter Miller did because as Claimbox and Andy C mentioned - this has been happening since the Darley Arabian broke his maiden and many of us degenerates are aware and wager accordingly/take advantage of these situations.
My point is that love like this sends a horrible message to any newcomers and to even some current participants in the racing game. Just wait until the NY Times gets a hold of this story. Imo, Brad Free shouldn't have even published this article in the first place, but it was very interesting and I enjoyed it.
Now show the article to your friends, co-workers, relatives and tell me how many are excited about becoming new racing fans and contributing to handle.
