Re: Prez DayI read elsewhere - Horse Racing Nation - that she was having a lot of trouble breathing.
America must have the highest "goofs per capita" rating of any nation outside Antarctica.
Re: Prez Day
That's what I heard also, Kermit.....she may have flipped a palate...at the ripe old age of 7!! There had to be an explanation for her poor showing. I'll post more as I find out.
Re: Prez DayTurned out to be an inflamed membrane in her throat. The vet was surprised she made it around the track. She'll get antibiotics and rechecked in 5 days. If it doesn't improve, surgery will be done to correct it.
She will be back, hopefully for a rematch. It makes one wonder what might have happened had Mookie been healthy.....
Re: Prez Dayi have had an inflamed brain for 35 years. best remedy is about 19 beers and 13 shots of blantons
Re: Prez DayIt,ll be interesting to see In The Stars at a grade 1 at 9 furlongs ,when she can make a lead without having to be restrained like shes been in the last two.She might not be Mizdirection, but shes darned good.
Re: Prez DayDual stakes queen A Jealous Woman (Muqtarib), who finished a disappointing seventh by more than 15 lengths in Monday's Grade 2 Buena Vista at Santa Anita, had an excuse in the one-mile turf race captured convincingly by Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint heroine Mizdirection (Mizzen Mast). "Apparently she ate a piece of straw that got caught in her throat and caused an infection," said Eddie Meza, husband of Francis Meza, who trains A Jealous Woman for the Three Cent Stable. "She was not able to breath properly in the race," Francis Meza said. "(Jockey) Brice (Blanc) said she didn't perform because she was trying to catch her breath. She could have been on the lead with Mizdirection if you look at the (final) time of 1:33.50, because she ran in 1:33 flat when she won the Megahertz." Eddie Meza continued, "But the good thing about it is she didn't bleed. Doctors have given her antibiotics and in about five days the swelling will go down. They'll scope her tomorrow or the next day. If it goes down, we're safe. If not, we'll have to do minor surgery to get the infection out."...
From BRIS 2/22/13 edition http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/editoria ... dition.cgi "And Afleet Alex just ran right by Giacomo like he was standing still!"
