I liked the Derby point system until

I saw that absurd Dubai derby whatever you call it getting a boat load of points. Give me a break. If next year some sheik decides to give a winner of a race 20 million dollars will the CD company give that winner 200 points? They kick the Illinois Derby to the curb with a promise of "maybe" you 'll get wild card points. As of today I never have heard of a Dubai winner winning the Derby but I know at least 1 derby winner that came from the Illinois Derby.I'm calling John Asher as we speaketh.

The point system needs to get revamped, as the Illinois Derby has 0 points, but the UAE Derby get a lot of points. They should both be noteworthy preps...

The one positive thing about the point system is that the Kentucky Derby will now be a truer run race. Since the Derby preps closer to the Derby count for more, and the sprints don't carry points, "rabbits" like Triniberg, etc..will not be able to run in the Derby, and it will be a truer run race.

Godolphin desperate to win the Kentucky Derby. Now giving horses to American trainers to train on US soil like Alpha last
year.

Didn't someone write a book about the millions they have spent on trying to produce a Derby winner? It must make them furious when the 2 donkeys MTB and Giacamomo win. Sorry Vinny, its not personal its trictly business.

CB it may be a truer run race but the 20 horse field is a joke. You need more racing luck than talent imho.

Old question, is the Kentucky Derby the ultimate test for a 3YO in early May, to win it and be called Champion, or
is it just the feature race on the first Saturday in May, and too early for 3YO horses to be going 10 furlongs carrying 126 lbs.?

America must have the highest "goofs per capita" rating of any nation outside Antarctica.

Since the introduction of the Breeders' Cup, only Spend A Buck ('85), Sunday Silence ('89), and Charismatic ('99) are the only horses to win the Kentucky Derby and HOY in the same year.

Do not disagree Fredo...But as long as they allow 20 entrants, at least it is a truer run race....
