Formal Attire debuted at Aqueduct for a $25,000 claiming price on Dec. 30 and was eased, but was not placed on the New York Racing Association Vet’s List because he did cross the wire and showed no signs of distress.

On Jan. 27, while entered for a lesser claiming price of $16,000, Formal Attire first passed a pre-race veterinary examination and was not observed to be lame and was allowed to race, fracturing his knee and later being euthanized.
