yes, you are correct, they're several reasons why

1. Not all races are fixed. That I want to make clear.

2. Yes some are for one main reason, the purses are small and they can't make a living without cheating, we all know what the costs of a horse are.

3. They also gamble.

When I lived in Colorado I was at the dog races. A huge favorite was getting bet down like mad, last tick I saw was 1/5, so they let the dogs go and the big fav takes off but unfortunately (?!) they left his rug on, so everyone who bet him got a refund (and the track avoided a negative payout).
It was so obvious everyone just laughed instead of getting pizzed-off.

They left his rug on ? The dog was wearing a hairpiece ?

Of course greyhounds wear hair. They are bred without hair, for speed. If you see one with hair, they are wearing a full rug.
What do you think they are, Alpacas?

Not sure about Goof.
