Fairplex Park, one of two locations under consideration as a replacement for Betfair Hollywood Park, is out of the running for now, says the president and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles County Fair facility.

Why rock the boat, why invest, they can talk all they want until they are blue in the face. If HP closes, Del Mar will get the racing dates,
However, I still believe that HP will find a buyer before they tear it down.
and who will spend the money to buy HP given the state of racing?
No one will!
The only reason they haven't torn the place down and developed the property is the economy. When things get better, Hollywood will be re-developed into something else.
Very interesting about Los Alamitos, a friend of mine in the know has been telling us for a long time this would likely happen.
That said, HP could limp along for a few more meets, maybe.........
The only way Los Al will get this if the State pays some of the bills,
Now do you think our beloved Governor will concur on this when he has a Track down south with his name on it.
10 million hard cash our of Los Al's General fund is a handful to deal with.
IF Del Mar would to get more dates (which won't happen), wouldn't it mean that it would have to reduce the current purses it offers during the summer (ie: $70k Maiden Allowances) to pay for the purse structure in the fall. Or run for possibly less than HP/SA do currently in the fall.
And regarding Los Al, would the current $2-5k claimers be part of the proposed expansion meets? I can't see many of the top trainers/jocks supporting a three week meet that has a lot of cheap racing (and considering no turf course is in the plan)which does not help matters, especially since the takeout goes up an additional two points than SA/HOL/DMR (exactas/doubles 24%, Tri/Super/PnX 25%). Might as well take the time off or let Golden Gate and the No Cal fairs run unopposed those weeks.
