"The secret truth is most sophisticated handicappers use legal rebate houses anyway. In most cases, they probably receive the lowest takeout of anyone - even at the biggest tracks. Therein lies the real issue."

Of course it is the sophisticated players who also provide the majority of the handle. So to say that the takeout rate doesn't affect handle is absolutely ridiculous.

It seems that the new philosophy in racing is to get people out to the tracks. So like the P-6 bonus at SA Koch is advocating rewarding those folks who attend in person. My response to that is WHY? 90% of handle comes from offtrack and that amount will increase and not decrease. It seems to me the direction racing should be taking is how can we make the offtrack experience the best possible. Make a player feel like they are at the track. Ideally there should be video feeds showing the saddling of horses and the warmup of horses.

Mitch knows the name of that South American horse Koch was raving about that would win several stakes races here.
It was a complete bust.

all these racing partnerships are a joke. they buy a horse for $50k then sell 15 shares for $15k each
and claim thier experience and knoweledge makes it worth it. oh and they get you good seats at the track on the day your horse runs

Belo Purse. I think that horse is running at Blue Ribbon Downs for $1,500 claiming. Billy tried to sell a share to my buddy touting he was going to win the Pacific Classic right off the plane from South America.

Are we sure Billy wrote this one? I usually get an email from his partner who's name escapes me.
