I'm not at all surprised and good for Sea The Stars. He has nothing left to prove. I've also had a hunch for some time and now more than ever that Zenyatta will contest the BC Classic. Hope I'm right. Well I was wrong about Sea The Stars being a factor in the connections' decision to send Zenyatta to the Classic. Just read a report by Jay Privman of Daily Racing Form, which also provides the link to Sea The Stars' PPs at the bottom. He carried top weight of 127 as a two-year-old. http://www.drf.com/news/article/108053.html

And half-sisters. Yep, that is exactly right. Kinda' Bibilical, in a way, what with all those fellas who had inumerable wives, who had inumerable offspring, who were then all half-siblings. DNA is DNA, it is immutable.

Zenyatta will have to deal with Rip Van Winkle and Summer Bird in the BC Classic, not Anabaa's Creation and Lethal Heat. Rip Van Winkle is the horse to beat now that Sea of Stars is retired.

I don't know. Barry may run Lethal Heat in here as well.

Actually Bob, that's under $133K US at current conversion rates.
I'll take the tweener in the $150K range.

That's an interesting point. I had read that Rip Van Winkle's connections were considering the Turf or the Classic. I wonder how many European horses might be entered for the 1 1/4 mile Classic instead of the 1 1/2 mile Turf now that Sea The Stars is not going to run. I get the feeling that the Europeans might see Santa Anita's hard turf course and the ProRide track as almost equivalent surfaces.
I bet on a horse at ten-to-one. It didn't come in until half-past five. My horse was so late getting home, he tiptoed into the stable. ~ Henny Youngman

I thought Rip Van Winkle was entirely UNimpressive in his last race. Looks like another Lammtara or Galileo..puteminacan in the Classic..PASS. If either Summer Bird or Zenyatta win the BC Classic, they should win Horse of the Year..if not, then Rachel will "back into it" just like Mineshaft did in 2003..
