Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?Won 2 early Derby prep races but do you think they look like viable horses moving forward (Will Take Charge and Oxbow)??
Re: Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?Capable of going a mile and a quarter??? Absolutely no way!!!! Will be looking for the softest spot on CD's oval to lay down!!!!!
Re: Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?
neither may get the mile and a quarter but it sure wont have anything to do with pedigree will take charge is a son of great race mare take charge indy who has already produced the winner of the florida derby. oxbow's mother is a full sister to tiznow. if they dont get the distance it will have nothing to do with pedigree.
Re: Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?Lukas is certainly as alive as anybody else is in January.
At least he knows how to win the Derby while many of the other up and comer connections don't yet understand the gruling ritual of prepping for the first Saturday in May. They aren't prepared to do what's necessary, often times not having the best interest of the horse in mind is a requirement. Hell, if everybody waited until their horse was ready to run 1 1/4 the Derby might not fill until August.
Re: Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?Lukas will run something like he always does in the Derby to appease his ego and his owners' egos. Hasn't saddled anything
remotely close to winning since Charismatic in 1998.
Re: Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?
if lukas doesnt win the derby it will only mean one thing. that he didnt have the best horse this year. he hasnt won it since 1998. that means 14 other trainers have won it during that time so lukas and 12,000 other horse trainers havent won it in the last 14 years, lets just forget those 5 times he did win it. how many trainers have ever done that?
Re: Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?Oxbow's final time(and quarter) were sensational compared to the other stakes on the card. The Gulfport-Oxbow maiden race at Churchill this fall has been one of the keyest maiden races of the year.He is the real deal. And with the BC Juvy comin up weaker and weaker the further out we get,a late-developer like Oxbow is exactly the type to go to the head of the class.
Re: Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?i agree with every thing you say except the best 3 year old ran 2nd in the bc juvy
Re: Do you think D. Wayne Lukas looks live so far for the Derby?Sometimes Lukas could be a surprise these days
