TMC showed Kentucky last night, had to watch it again for the nth time. "The look of Eagles". Walter Brennan's character and the trainer KNEW the horse was going to win the Derby because he worked a mile in 1:37. Even the owner saw the stopwatch and asked "was that 7 furlongs?" I didn't know the stretch at CD was about a mile long because the final battle scene took about 1:37 to film. 1938 and no black jockeys. Hmmm.

Good stuff though.

in 1938 their werent any black jockies, it was well before that that they were prominent. btw if you are ever in lexington ky they have a great display at the libarary downtown about the era of the black jockies. they also have an amazing clock at that library

Kentucky is one of my all time fav horsie movies.....sometimes DREAMS do come true, lol.....and there IS such thing as the Look of Eagles......right, CK?

Try to seen Stanley Kubrick's "The Killing" about a robbery at the racetrack. Very good film.
