My favorite soft California horse is Power Broker. He had no chance in the BC Juvenile and in general, that race is very suspect because it was run without lasix ,on an apparently speed biased track and was almost too slow to be believed. I vote for neither He's Had Enough nor Flashback, but would give the nod to Flashback in the Lewis. As a prep race , I'm partial to the Remsen , as being the top prep so far.

Afleet Alex's Belmont wasn't that impressive. He beat a horse that hadn't even broken its maiden (Nolan's Cat), an allowance horse (Indy Storm), AP Arrow a Clark winner, Chekhov who won 1 race in his life (a MSW), the 50-1 Derby winner, Southern Africa who won 1 race after the Belmont (an ungraded stakes), Pinpoint- who worked his way to a $7500 claiming level, Reverberate who won one race (an allowance) after the Belmont, Watchmon who won a 3-horse G3 race, and Andromeda's Hero who was probably best at 1 1/8 miles.

He was surely the class of the field, and should've won regardless of the distance.

Well, AA did beat the Derby winner, who beat 19 others Stake winners in that race. A ML of 50-1 only means that's how Battaglia thought the crowd would bet.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.
