18-1 and 5-1 gets only a $56 exacta for $1. Favorite runs third, tri returns $450.

Claimboxx?
Could it have been someone "saving" that had live pick six tickets?

Not likely to that magnitude...The tris and supers paid normal, someone just nailed the exacta...

Keep in mind the morning lines on those two were 9/2 and 6-1, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Here's a bummer story:

I know a very sharp poster in here (hasn't posted lately) who was live to FOUR horses in the Pick Six in that race: 3, 5, 7 and 10 - the four most logical shots, all for between $6,900 to $30,000.

He did NOT have #2 and #4, the exacta horses.

He also didn't have 1, 6, 8, 9, 11 & 12, who we both agreed had absolutely NO shots.

We talked about how to Dutch and he was going to place win wagers on the 2 and 4 and forget about the no chance horses.

He decided to just bet the 4 as his Dutch.

OUCH!

The only positive on Collation, imo, was he was a first time gelding, though I'm not a firm believer in that makes a horse faster.

Thanks Vince, that makes most sense.
Anyone who liked either one of those contenders could have easily covered those exactas heavy.
It happens.

In my estimation the exacta was overplayed by about $1,500 worth of bets. It would seem that an unsophisticated gambler didn't consider the affect on the pool of making such a large wager.
