One wins the first leg of what ever you're playing, so one is watching the board.
There it is, a horse going off at 6-1 to 12-1 morning line odds's dropping like a bomb, then the races goes and wins and kills your pick what ever, now, just before the race, one knows the horse is going to win.
One couldn't handicap this horse if one had to.
That's why I spread and try to get the odds's on one side.
I guess this happens to most players, what about You.?

You dont have to Mr Beerstein. Unless of course, you want to win. You seem to believe the ML is the odds on a horse winning. Just keep churning it. We appreciate your handle. And plz, no comments about my meds. That would be ego assimilation.

One, or two for some of you or Sybil, should have your own personal morning line and react to shifts only to that. Anything else is basing your bets on another person's opinion. Why would anyone do that?

Sound start. Do you look at the current odds before you place your wager?

i do not. imo the object of the game is picking winners whether they are 2to5 or 25to1 my main bets are the multiple race bets so in the daily doubles, p3s,p4s,p5s,p6s you dont know the odds of the races after the 1st leg anyhow. generally 90% of the time by looking at the form you know which horses will be the favorites. i love it when a horse i think will be 3to1 goes off at 10to1. obviously when you know a horse is going to be 1to5 i dont bet $10.00 to win on that horse, i just pass the race except for the multiple race bets.

Ok. I'll let you off the hook (partially) because you focus mainly on multiple race wagers. However, on the rare occasions you do make straight wagers not checking the odds is CRAZY kid. All things in life have an acceptable price. I'd go to Morton's every night it the steaks were $5 bucks. I'd never go if they were $500. Betting horses is just like shopping. Right scenario at the right price you go. To ignore that basic principal is folly and a sure road to losing.

i love it when i hear people say when some horse is on the board at 1to5, oh i cant play that horse and then play another horse. many times the odds go up on those horses just because lots of people go bet other horses, when in fact 1to5 are fair odds on that horse at 3to5 the horse becomes an overlay. i must admit i generally walk in the door and bet every race before the 1st race, if i think a horse who is even money is going to win i wont bet some other horse thats 8to1 who i think should be 3to1 because i dont think that horse is going to win. no odds are bad if your horse wins

If you actually do what you're saying. Over time you cannot possibly win. " No bad odds if your horse wins" While I don't know you. You seem like a pleasant person. Let's make believe someone else said that. Let's make believe "you know who" uttered those fateful words. That is by far the most ridiculous 7 word sentence ever uttered on these hallowed pages.
