you people just dont understand how hard it is to win a race, and you suggest that these races are fixed somehow. to fix a race it would take about 40 people all working together and keeping it a secret. not to mention how the owners of the horses who got stiffed are going to feel about that. most of these folks on the back side dont even bet.

I beg to differ there, CK.....the whole barn bets on AJW when they know she's live...you can see it on the first odds click. Of course, she's the big horse in the barn, so why wouldn't they, lol

Back in the day, before he became very well-known, I remember seeing about a half dozen guys from the Doug O'Neill barn (they were wearing matching shirts) talking on the Del Mar apron how they were going to bet a LIVE horse of Doug's..

You have to be naive if you think that horse's connections don't bet on their horses. I've talked to grooms, exercise riders, hotwalkers and they all bet when the time is right.

Betting barns or not, the only way you could guarantee a 98%-chance winner is for every other horse in the race be held back by their riders or drugged beyond running. Even then the jockey could fall off. I could see the racing secretary begging/threatening for horses to fill a cheap card and the trainers demanding certain concessions... like don't let a healthy, well-prepared ready-to-run horse into that race, just let the dullards and under-acheivers run against each other.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.

I know a guy who swears by the first click of the odds from the M/L as the smart money so he looks for horses bet down before the publics money gets into the pools.

Years ago, I heard this but couldn't verify it, there was always one race during the week that was set up for the back stretch people to bet on,
Is this true or false, does anyone know ?
