Mike Smith put in an incredible ride on Mizdirection. I don't think anybody would've won on her without the determination Mike put in.

Ernie, do you ever think it is the HORSE??? Smith rode a great tactical race as he knew Kindle was the only speed, pressured her down the hill, but the filly was exceptionally resilient when it appeared she was outrun in the lane to re-rally late and get up... Please, please remember, no matter how much you worship the riders, it is HORSE racing...

If the guy wants to give props to a Hall of Fame rider. He's entitled. Boxx, go run around the block a few times. Stop being such a busy body.

It was Mizdirection's competitive fire that carried her to victory this afternoon.

Last seen winning the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint vs. males two months ago, odds-on favorite MIZDIRECTION proved extremely resilient in her five-year-old debut for Puype, proving best late to take the Monrovia under an exceptional Smith ride. The Mizzen Mast mare tracked early, moved up to put pressure on the lone speed horse KINDLE making that one pick it up midway down the hill, backed off again leaving the hill, appeared to be spinning her wheels leaving the dirt crossing and entering the stretch, re-rallied tenaciously the final 1/16th, collared the leader close home, prevailed to the wire. Par rating, but this was an excellent effort considering she played the runner-ups game and beat her, the plan is for her to stretch out around a distance of ground until she defends her championship down the hill in the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint. KINDLE led as expected early while not traveling well in the early stages, came under pressure from the winner midway down the hill, edged away again leaving the hill, increased her advantage crossing the dirt and entering the stretch, floated off the rail while clear past midstretch, couldn’t contain the winner the final part, outfinished to the wire. She got beat with all the best of it, so it is hard to imagine her beating the winner, especially if she encounters more pace. GIVINE tracked the pace, clear run into the lane, between horses while no match for the top pair the final furlong, just won the photo for third. BYRAMA trailed inside down the hill, came out nearing the dirt crossing, still last past midstretch, mild gain the final 1/16th, lost the photo for show. BROKEN DREAMS stalked between horses early then angled to the fence midway down the hill, behind horses along the rail in the lane, outfinished the final part for the minor placings.
1. MIZDIRECTION 112 st 4. BYRAMA-GB 106 st
2. KINDLE 111 st 5. BROKEN DREAMS 106 st
3. GIVINE-FR 106 st
