Yes, they had a good day but the P6 handle was down 24% for the day. It's a dying wager and I don't think the on track bonus alone will save it.

Like I said on another thread, why would anyone who bets at an OTB or an ADW bet the Pick 6 now?

And since that accounts for maybe 90% of the bettors, the Pick 6 handle will be going down..NOT up with the on-track bonus.

Racetrack marketing folks are effing morons..

Agree.

Most of the people at the top don't gamble much and it shows.

First of all, you are talking about people who bet non-carryover P-6s. For the most part, these people are not sophisticated gamblers. The sophisticated gamblers are getting rebates. Secondly, the fact that an on-track bonus is being paid to winners will not affect an unsophisticated gambler's mentality. Thirdly, the payoff received off-track isn't changing for anybody so if you were happy with it before there should be no reason to be unhappy now.

I guess I'll never understand why, if you hit a pick6 with a $48 ticket and it pays $8K, it's a really horrible play and only a fool would play it.
Something amiss in my up-bringing, I reckon - something about sophistication.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.

any winning bet is a good bet, whether you bet 2 bucks and get back 3 bucks or bet 2000 bucks and get back 2100 bucks. the only bad bets are the ones that dont pay back more than you bet.
