What happens when the player hits this "life changing score?"
Will they reinvest and churn their money? I doubt it.
Many more players who hit Exactas, Tris, etc, with 20% bonuses will undoubtedly reinvest their winnings (churn) and help the track's bottom line much more than the player who hits the "life changing score."

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. Avatar: My cuzin Isaac Murphy - a jock I'm tying to emulate in character and winning percentage - almost 47% lifetime.

I have know 2 people who have hit big one for over 250 grand, they bet it and lost it. All depends if a person goes out and hit it on a weekend. He goes only once or twice to the race track per year, he will keep it, if it's a gambler, he will spend it all.

Vince, this is meant to have an impact...If you hit the Pick Six and are on track, THIS will have an impact....

Claimboxx wrote:I vehemently disagree Andy... If you get a 20% bonus on an exacta play of the day, how much can you really win? So if someone hits an exacta and gets a 20% bonus, is that going to make a big difference? IS it going to change their lives? Hitting a Pick Six, even if it pays $5-10K, a 20% bonus is an extra $1 - 2K...That means something...
The object of the bonus is to get people to live racing. You might get a bettor out there one or two days to chase a P-6 but the thrill won't last long. Conversely if the player gets more money back from their regular type betting they will be far more apt to go to live racing. I know I would and I am a P-6 player.

It will have a positive impact on the one player who hits but there is also a negative impact on the ones that don't. You are asking bettors to change their habits. Going to the track and incurring a much higher expense to play in hopes of chasing a carrot that really isn't that big won't work for very long. The P-6 bet becomes an added expense of the experience and at some point a player will ask themselves if chasing the carrot is worth the expense. And the answer will be NO. The people on-track such as yourself will undoubtedly love this promotion because you can go on doing what you normally do and get a bonus for doing so.

- AC- Thanks for the clarification. Am shocked however that BradFree could be wrong lmao. ISHO, this is a really-bad idea - unless you work at the track and are there plunging everyday anyway. Kurt Hoover, Jon White, Mike Wilman et al are no doubt doing cartwheels over this plan. Claimboxx and Stuffer have offered their opinions on this thread and both think IT'S GREAT! for for guys like sid, nashfor3, and spiketoo, not so much. -rcs -

Does anybody think that a 20% bonus on a P-6 offers more value to a bettor than a carryover pool? It doesn't even come close. So if the thinking is that people will rush to the track to make this bet then I think management is mistaken.
The P-6 carryover offers a bonus of between 28-40% or about 40-100% higher.

The promotion is being done to revitalize the P6 and get people back on track. You want to get the P6 pools up to 200k on weekdays so the carryover if there is one will be at least 100k. To do that you have to offer something through XBet as well. As far as getting more people to the track the need to add some sort of bonus to the exactas and double.
The orinially proposed promotion was to include a free P6 contest on Xbet where each player got something like a $32 ticket and the prize money would be distributed to the ones with the most wins. By doing that you develop new P6 players because once you put in a free ticket you almost have to put in a real one in case the free one hits.
I hope they're making adjustments as we speak.

You think maybe they should have thought of this when they instituted the P5? According to most soothe-sayers here and elsewhere, didn't that bastardize the P6 pools???

It was on the decline anyway. With the advent of other 50 cent low takeout P5's at places like Monmouth the P5's are just better wagers for the average guy. The takeout raise to 23.68 from 20.68 didn't help either.
