He won the Phoenix Stakes today, after being forced to contest a hot pace up front. Fatal Bullet's class prevailed over EZ Dreamer, who wouldn't go away. Capt. Candyman Can came with a late rush and almost got there. I don't understand why a three-year-old was giving four pounds to his elder who has been extremely successful over synthetic surfaces, and if not for the weight difference Capt. Candyman Can may have won. I'm glad he didn't, but in all fairness, that weight concession didn't make sense to me.
It's on to the Breeders' Cup Sprint now for Fatal Bullet. I so much wanted him to win the race last year and hopefully he'll win the second time around.
