Aqueduct: New meet sees new medication rules

Postby Southieboy » Mon Dec 10, 2012 1:53 pm

Several new rules regarding the usage and administration of certain medications go into effect with Wednesday’s opening of Aqueduct’s inner track that figure to have a significant impact on horsemen and handicappers alike.

Beginning Wednesday, horses may not run in New York who have been administered the bronchodilator clenbuterol within 21 days. Since the rules regarding these medications vary from many of the Mid-Atlantic states, it is likely that fewer shippers will come to New York for the inner meet, likely impacting field size.

Clenbuterol use is now 21 days for the inner,in places like Parx its 21 hours, lol. I think this rule was added because of the influx of trainers(J Carlos Guerrero,Ness) with reputed clenbuterol mastery,to Aqueduct.
