I know, it really is mind <img src="/images/chat/whale.gif">ing the way they handle this issue. Just rediculous.

What a deush bag answer. When has this rule ever helped you? It has only hurt me in 13 years of playing NYRA.

Running for purse money only IS THE ONLY CORRECT RESPONSE when one part scratches. Many, many times Ive entered a horse, only to have my trainer put another one of his charges in from a different owner.Although we have the same trainer,we are not on the same team, nor share in any purse money. If someone put a giant bet on the other horse, and he scratches,he should not be forced to take my horse instead, period. For those who say if 1 scratches, both should scratch:BS.It takes lots of money to get a horse ready, and if a horse with a different owner has to scratch,WHY SHOULD I BE PENALIZED? Also, for those who hate entries:how many times does Baffert put 2 in unentered, with the longer shot winning many, many times? Even if nothing nefarious went on,IT LOOKS HORRIBLE.If a race cant fill without a trainer having 2 separate, unentered horses, the race should not go.2 horses in one race by the same trainer unentered just looks fraudulent in a game that doesnt need any more help in the looks department.

So you are saying owners are more important than horseplayers? If there are no gamblers odviously theres no horse racing.

i dont understand your argument. just postpone the race for a few minutes and let people keep or cancell/change thier tickets, how hard would that be? that doesnt effect the owners in any way.

On paper that sounds like a good idea CK, but would never happen. Nyra doesnt like to ever delay, they can have a even money scratch at the gate and they will be off 30 seconds later. Also NYRA wouldnt do that because people bet early in the day and are not always viewing the races live. Even when NYRA posts a scratch on there website on accident early in the morning, the horse will still run for purse only even if the race is hours away.

I agree that if one part is a late scratch, there should be 10 minutes added to post time to change wagers.Im a small time owner, but hard core player,so I see both sides. But there are many people who bet big early, then leave the track. If these people were stuck with the part of the entry they did not like and lost, there would be many fewer horse playesr around. This rule is fan-friendly as it is owner-friendly.Now as it regards to the pick-6,that is another question entirely.

Didn't the entire 'entry' thing start to protect the public from trainers/owners entering a rabbit so their hero horse could be guaranteed a good pace?
Then why in the heck would different owners/same trainer be suspected of that? It's insane, just as locking the jockeys in a room between races to prevent them from being slipped a $20 bill in the crowd to pull their horse in the next race.
Seems CK has at least the most simple solution, to delay the race a few minutes. You can't please all the people all the time, so the ones that bet and leave before the race just have to lump this one.
Jeez, next thing we know someone will be questioning the Jockey Club weights, which were established in 1607 A.D.
America must have the highest "goofs per capita" rating of any nation outside Antarctica.
