Do we really need people showing up at the race track ? No

Postby Igeteven » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:19 pm

Except for the owners and trainers, does the race track need really the player on the grounds. I say no,

Why,

1. Internet

2. Off track betting sites.

We can play at home, work, sitting in a park , sitting on the beach, sitting on top of the moon, etc.

Remember, one can play from the desert to the sea or from the mountains to the flat lands.

What I see is people is a small group to have fun, playing a few bets , however this small group costs the tracks a ton of money in overhead.

it's dead. Why not shut out the public during the week and just open it up on weekends.

With the exception of Del Mar, I can't see opening the doors to the public on a weekday.

Now special events or holidays, I can see the doors open.

Now tell the truth, how often do you go ? ;)

Any comments.

This is the cutting edge type of ideas racing needs Lester. I sure hope is considering you as CEO at the Great Race Place or at least be 2nd in command to Jimmy the Hat.

The idea of running the live races without the public just sounds weird to me. I can't imagine a Steward's Inquiry
without patrons there at the track.

Brilliant idea.

What better way to gain fans than to close the doors? Think about it. The best restaurants are the ones you can never get reservations for. The hottest nightclubs are impossible to get in to. You see, once you lock people out it'll only make them want to get back in all the more. Who knew all racetracks had to do is play hard to get...into?

Apad

The hard core fans go on weekends, very few go during the week.

MAYBE the Turf club at both tracks, beyond that, no

Free or $1 general admission, food/drink specials and twilight racing could help.
